Generally pet classes excel at solo play, so Gaige or Axton (especially double turret route) can lay a big distraction down. Maya has insane crowd control too. Iirc gunzerker is best in bl2. I would recommend gaige or axton, but mostly gaige. She’s much more viable as she has access to anarchy.

Once you're at UVHM and Maya has a Bee she can really utilise it cuz she won't be taking much damage thanks to the Krieg machine. Every class is brilliant. Imo, borderlands 2 is much more defense focused until you acquire awesome guns and even then, enemies can still down you with one rocket or some quick bullets to the dome. Slagg is such an annoying mechanic in ultimate and she takes the annoying out of it since it's bult in the action skilll with a point and does it extremely well.
